Today is the first death anniversary of Luna Shamsuddoha
Today marks the first death anniversary of Luna Samsuddoha, former chairman of IT company Dohatech New Media and Janata Bank. She died on February 17 last year (2021) in a hospital in Singapore. He was 67 years old at the time of his death. Luna Samsuddoha was the first woman chairman of a state-owned bank in the country.
She was the founding president of Bangladesh Women in Technology (BWIT). In recognition of her contribution to the country's economy, she received the Bangladesh Business Award-2017. She has received the Ananya Top Ten Award in recognition of her work in the local software industry as a woman entrepreneur.
Luna Samsuddoha obtained her MA in 1978 from the Department of International Relations, Dhaka University. She then started her career as a lecturer at the Institute of Modern Languages of the same university. She later joined The Executive Center in 1985 as a managing partner. She started her business life in 1992 with the establishment of DohaTech New Media and established herself as one of the leading IT specialists in the country. Her company is involved in e-governance projects in various government organizations, one of which is the e-GP system. She was also instrumental in the development of the National Identity Card in 2007-2008.
AIn addition, her organization is coming up with software solutions of various countries, government organizations, corporations including Bangladesh, USA, Canada, Germany, Switzerland. One of the clients of the organization is Bangladesh Government, Bangladesh Army, World Bank, World Health Organization, Postal Service in USA. The company is selected as an institution to issue the digital certificate.
Luna Shamsuddoha was honored by the Global Women Inventors and Innovators Network (GWIN) in 2013 for her role in advancing women in technology and increasing women's empowerment. She was also the founder of Bangladesh Business Magazine, a software entrepreneur and a member of the Global Thought Leader on Inclusive Growth in Switzerland.
